Drupal 7 Update

I wanted to give everyone an update on our progress in converting our themes to Drupal 7.

As stated in some of the threads in the forums, this is not a trivial task. Drupal lists 62 core things that need to be updated when converting from a D6 theme to a D7 theme. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our themes.

While that list of 62 does cover the basics, and will work for simplified themes, there was much more to change/convert for our themes to work on D7. Some things had to be figured out as there was no clear path to conversion for some of our functionality.

With that said, we have made it past most of the road-blocks in our conversions and are in the final stages of converting and testing some of our themes on D7.

The roadmap for conversions will be generally in reverse order of release. So we will be converting the most recent themes first and working backwards. We will probably throw in a few out of order for some of the more popular themes.

There won’t be a scheduled release date for existing themes converted to D7, they will be released as they are ready. We will continue to release new themes on our normal schedule and will be throwing in some D7 conversions of our old themes in the mix.

We are committed to getting our themes converted to D7. We only have a few more minor things to address and we will be ready to go. Our goal is to begin releasing some D7 themes in August.
